It’ll be a special evening for Remedy as we make our debut at the Brickhouse Grille and Tavern in Newnan, GA on Friday, June 18th, 2010 at 9 PM. Special not only because we’ll be making our first appearance at the popular Newnan restaurant and pub, but also because we’ll co-hosting a few parties, including a farewell bash for a couple of good friends, Christi and Andy Kesig.

Although a relatively new player on the local music scene, the Brickhouse Grille and Tavern has quickly established a reputation as a great hangout for music, good food, and a great atmosphere. A Night to Remember

DSCF6639Remedy had the pleasure of playing to a packed house at the Twilight Bar and Grill on December 31, 2009 in Newnan, GA. Filled with friends, family and lots of Twilight faithful, hosts Molly and Glenn Veasey kicked off the evening’s festivities with a fantastic steak dinner, set against a wonderfully decorated bar that was perfectly arranged for the big party. Molly personally visited each table, checking on her guests as they enjoyed their meal and making sure everyone was having a great time.

The band began playing music just before the nine o’clock hour, kicking off the first set with Eddie Money’s ‘Two Tickets to Paradise’ and finishing with off with the ever popular Allman Brother’s ‘Whipping Post.’ The band added several new songs to the mix during the evening, including tunes by Santana, The Doobie Brothers, The Jeff Healey Band and Joe Cocker.

At midnight, the bar counted down in unison as the seconds ticked away, followed by lots of hugs and kisses as the clock struck twelve. The band played on as the celebration continued, playing lots of material that kept the dance floor packed and visitors singing along.

Check out the photo gallery for more action from the event.

We’d like to send out a heartfelt thanks to both Molly and Glenn for allowing us to play during one of their biggest parties of the year. It’s no secret we love playing the Twilight and a big part of that is because of them. We’d also like to thank all the Twilight faithful that made the choice to spend their holiday with us. We know there are LOTS of choices when it comes to New Year’s Eve parties and we’re honored you choose to spend yours with us. Lastly, many thanks to our families and friends who came to join us. We’d likely not accept invitations to play holiday parties like these were it not for you coming to celebrate with us. It means so much to us to have you there!

Hopefully we’ll see you all again next year!

New Year’s Eve with The Remedy Band

New Year's Eve with Remedy Remedy is thrilled to be the featured act at the Twilight for their biggest party of the year, New Year’s Eve. A long standing tradition at the Twilight, Molly and Glenn throw an incredible party each year to ring in the new year with friends, family and faithful patrons of the bar. Featuring a steak dinner, party favors, a champagne toast at midnight, giveaways and prizes throughout the evening, and more than four hours of blistering tunes from the band, this year’s party is sure to be a memorable one for the band and the bar.

In speaking to Molly about the event, she strongly advised potential attendees to call in advance and reserve a table for dinner if you wish to guarantee a spot as the New Year’s Eve celebration at the Twilight fills up quickly and typically sells out prior to the evening of the event.

For our part, Remedy has added an incredible keyboard player since our last visit and have added about 10 new songs to our play-list as well, featuring new songs by Van Halen, Santana, the Doobie Brothers, Joe Cocker, Dobie Gray, the Commodores, and more. We can’t wait to participate in the annual New Year’s Eve gig at the Twilight and look forward to doing our part to make it a memorable and fun-filled evening for all!

See you there!

Bringing Back the Beard

October 31, 2009 by Andrew Ryff

ZZ TopRemedy has decided to assemble a medley from one of the most famous bearded rock and roll groups of all time; ZZ Top. Featuring three songs from the band, the medley kicks off with some killer guitar riffs in ‘Just Got Paid,’ transitions into ‘Waitin’ On The Bus,’ and finishes strong with ‘Jesus Just Left Chicago.’ The latter two songs naturally transition from one to the other but Remedy decided to add ‘Just Got Paid’ to the mix as the prominent guitar lick at the beginning of the song was just too good to pass up. It’s a heck of a lot of fun to play and Tim, as usual, nails the guitar parts as Andy and Jon chime in perfectly with their respective instruments.

Have a listen to Just Got Paid’ by selecting the play button below.

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Big fans of the group and their music, Remedy can regularly be heard playing a few other ZZ Top songs on any given night including ‘Sharp Dressed Man’ and ‘La Grange.’ I don’t know if we’ll be growing the beards anytime soon but you’ll surely hear us pay tribute to bearded boys from ZZ Top during one of our next gigs out. We certainly hope you enjoy it!

Don’t Judge a Book

August 24, 2009 by Andrew Ryff

dscf4442Reading the home page for Newnan’s Twilight Bar and Grill website, viewers will notice a very candid description regarding the establishment…

“Don’t let the funky exterior fool you.  Inside is a first-class neighborhood bar full of nice people having a great time.”

Driving past the Twilight, some might lean towards being apprehensive about the establishment based on the aforementioned rugged exterior and although we’ve all been in situations where we’ve prejudged people or places only to find we were right on the mark, those that judge the Twilight before experiencing it are doing themselves a tremendous disservice. In this case, judging the book by its cover leaves you missing out on a great story.

The Twilight Bar and Grill may not be the newest or fanciest place in town, but it consistently draws a great crowd of incredibly nice people who know where to look for top notch entertainment and a friendly atmosphere. Owners and hosts Molly and Glenn are always talking with patrons and frequently sing along and dance with the music being played. They enjoy themselves so much, you get the distinct impression they built the bar not as an investment, but more as a wonderful opportunity to hang out and party with 300 of their closest friends.

The ‘friends’ that visit are knowledgeable about music, supportive of those who put in a solid effort on behalf of their enjoyment, and LOVE to have a great time. As a band, the energy and enthusiasm they exude is incredibly contagious and you routinely find yourself applauding them following a song because they add so much to your enjoyment while playing. During sets, (when neither dancing or clapping) they routinely hand you beverages and between sets, approach you to offer a kind word of thanks.

We had a fantastic time, greatly look forward to returning to the Twilight on May 1st, 2010 and hope those that caught the last show come back and join us again. We’ll be working extra hard to make sure we learn more new material and put on an even better show!

Look Mom, I’m on TV!

May 3, 2009 by Andrew Ryff

Remedy on TelevisionDuring our last performance at The Boardroom, we noticed a couple of video cameras roaming around that didn’t belong to us. We typically take video at just about every one of our gigs which we use to review our performance but also for use on the website for promotional purposes. These cameras however, belonged to a local video production company that was hired by The Boardroom to produce a couple of television commercials for the newly reopened venue. Airing in several parts of Fayette County on various local cable access channels, we kept hearing reports from people commenting that they “saw Tim” or “caught a glimpse of the band” on a commercial for The Boardroom.

Tim gave Richard (The Boardroom Co-Owner) a call and asked him if the band actually made it into the advertisement for the bar and alas, it turns out we made the cut. Sandwiched between a delicious steak and some Texas Hold Em’ card players, the band briefly appears in the commercial(s) with Tim, the prettiest of the bunch with his fancy shirt, getting top billing throughout the two commercials.

Although appearing between reruns of Matlock instead of Lost or 24, we’re proud to be a part of the commercial and happy to promote The Boardroom. We’ve got a great relationship with Richard and Danny and we hope the ad brings them TONS of business.

Have a look at the two ads, back to back!
